Cyberpunk 2077’s next major update may be released very soon

It looks like a big update is on the way Cyberpunk 2077 in the very near future. Fans on Cyberpunk subreddit noted that the building to Cyberpunk 2077 has been updated on SteamDB for the first time since October. Forbes seems to think the move could indicate that CD Project Red is preparing for the game's next big patch. Back in November, the developer revealed that the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X versions of the game would be launched "along with an even bigger update for all platforms" in the first quarter of 2022. Given that, it certainly looks like both these could be released sometime in the near future!

Earlier this month, rumors began circulating about a launch window in February 2022 for Cyberpunk 2077s next update along with next generation versions. A developer for CD Projekt Red claimed that the leak "does not match", but the release window still seems like a clear possibility.

Cyberpunk 2077 launched in late 2020 after many years of hype. While the PC version mostly received strong reviews, the console versions were fraught with bugs and performance issues, leading to the game's removal from PlayStation Store. Over the past year, CD Project Red has been working to get the game in a much better place, and it was eventually re-inserted on PlayStation's digital storefront. Despite these improvements, perception on Cyberpunk 2077 remains quite mixed. CD Project Red is well aware of that fact and seems to be looking for ways to turn things around. It's left to see how Cyberpunk will be remembered when all is said and done, but it is possible that the next updates to the game may provide a more enjoyable experience for the players.

Cyberpunk 2077 is available now on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PC and Google Stadium. You can see our entire previous coverage of the game right here.
