More than 30 restaurants in Chicago, gyms cited for COVID vaccine violations

CHICAGO (AP) - Chicago officials have handed out more than 30 quotes to businesses for failing to enforce the city's requirement that people show evidence of COVID-19 vaccination in many places.

The order went into effect on January 3, and by Wednesday, January 12, the city's business and consumer protection agency had issued 32 quotes to 16 businesses.

The Chicago Tribune reports that the businesses include restaurants, gyms, a swimming school and a playground.

Some of the citations were for failure to formulate a written policy for performing vaccination card checks and enforcing them.

Each violation can be punished with a fine of between $ 100 and $ 10,000.

The city's ruling requires everyone over the age of 5 to present proof of vaccination to enter a restaurant, gym or entertainment venue.
