Monster Hunter Rise shipments and digital sales top eight million

Total shipments and digital sales regarding Monster Hunter Rise has surpassed eight million units worldwide, Capcom announced.

Monster Hunter Rise launched to Switch on March 26, 2021 worldwide and exceeded four million shipments and digital sales on March 29, five million units on April 4, six million units on April 27 and seven million units on May 27. A PC version launched via Steam on January 12, 2022.

For comparison, Monster Hunter: World launched for PlayStation 4 (worldwide) and Xbox One (North America and Europe only) on January 26, 2018 and exceeded five million shipments and digital sales on January 29, six million units on February 9, 7.5 million units on March 5, 7.9 million units on May 8 and 8.3 million units on July 30.

That Monster hunter the series consists of hunting action games that set players up against giant monsters in a beautiful natural environment. Beginning with the first title in 2004, the series established a new genre where players collaborate to hunt ferocious monsters with their friends and has since grown into a global phenomenon with a cumulative sales of the series of over 78 million units shipped on September 30, 2021.

Monster Hunter Rise was released for Steam, a PC platform with a broad global user base, on January 13, 2022. With high-resolution 4K support and voice chat functionality for PC, the game provided a fresh hunting experience that garnered praise from gamers while growing its player base across a wide range of countries and regions. This, combined with the sale of the Nintendo Switch version released in March 2021, caused global shipments of the game to exceed eight million units.

Going forward, Capcom looks set to expand its player base further Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, a massive premium extension to this title, scheduled for release in the summer of 2022.
