Amazon’s ‘Lord of the Rings’ for Chronicle Sauron’s Rise, reveals title – The Hollywood Reporter

Amazon is mysterious Lord of the Rings The TV series has revealed its title and new story details.

The much-anticipated, multi-season drama is called Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power.

As the name suggests, the story follows the forging of the original power rings that enabled Sauron to spread the darkness over Middle Earth.

"This is a title that we imagine could live on the backbone of a book alongside JRR Tolkien's other classics. The rings of power unites all the great stories of the second age of Middle-earth: the forging of the rings, the emergence of the Lord of the Dark Sauron, the epic tale of Númenor and the last alliance of elves and men, ”said showrunners JD Payne & Patrick McKay. "Until now, audiences have only seen the story of The One Ring on screen - but before there was one, there were many ... and we're excited to share the epic story of them all."

The news refutes rumors from fandom that the prequel would not include Sauron, the powerful, corrupt villain who also appeared over Peter Jackson's Oscar-winning Lord of the Rings movie.

The company also released this video, which teases the title treatment:

Here is the series' previously released official description: Lord of the Rings “Brings for the very first time the heroic legends of the legendary Second Age of Middle-earths history. This epic drama takes place thousands of years before the events of JRR Tolkien's The Hobbits and Lord of the Rings, and will take viewers back to an era where great powers were forged, kingdoms rose to glory and collapsed, unlikely heroes were tested, hopes hung in the finest threads, and the greatest villain ever streamed from Tolkien's pen , threatened to cover the whole world in darkness. The series begins in a time of relative peace and follows a group of characters, both familiar and new, as they confront the long-feared resurgence of evil to Middle-earth. From the darkest depths of the misty mountains, to the majestic forests of the river capital Lindon, to the breathtaking island kingdom of Númenor, to the farthest reaches of the map, these kingdoms and characters will carve long-lived legacies. they are gone."

Lord of the Rings already considered the most expensive show ever, with the first season costing an estimated $ 465 million. Production was mainly recorded in New Zealand. Last autumn, they then announced that they were moving to the UK

The ensemble's cast includes Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Robert Aramayo, Owain Arthur, Maxim Baldry, Nazanin Boniadi, Morfydd Clark, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Charles Edwards, Trystan Gravelle, Sir Lenny Henry, Ema Horvath, Markella Kavenagh, Joseph Mawle, Sophroe Muhaf Nomvete, Lloyd Owen, Megan Richards, Dylan Smith, Charlie Vickers, Leon Wadham, Benjamin Walker, Daniel Weyman and Sara Zwangobani.
