Massive asteroids zoom in safely at Earth, a million miles away

A huge asteroid came closest in the next two centuries on Tuesday (January 18) and certainly flew past our planet.

Asteroid 7482 (1994 PC1), which is classified as a terrestrial asteroid, came only within five lunar distances of our planet, which is equivalent to 1 million miles (1.6 million kilometers).
