Denver Nuggets buy San Antonio Spurs guard Bryn Forbes in a three-way deal with the Boston Celtics, sources told ESPN Tuesday night.
The Nuggets will send Bol Bol and PJ Dozier to the Celtics, and the Spurs will acquire Celtics striker Juancho Hernangomez and Denver's 2028 second-round pick, sources said.
The Nuggets hope Forbes can improve their 3-point shooting. Forbes ranks third in 3-point field goal percentage over the past four NBA seasons among players with more than 1,000 attempts, just behind Brooklyn's Joe Harris and Philadelphia's Seth Curry, according to ESPN Stats and Information research.
The Celtics will save about $ 3 million in salary on the deal, which will help them avoid luxury taxes. Dozier is lost for the season with an ACL tear, and Bol underwent foot surgery on Tuesday, which is expected to put him on the sidelines for three months. Dozier is an unlimited free agent this summer and Bol will be a limited free agent.
Boston could decide to give up one or both players to create roster space. The Pistons failed Bol in a physical last week, invalidating a trade with Denver.
Hernangomez, 26, has played sparingly since arriving at the Celtics out of season, averaging 1.1 points in five minutes per game.
Forbes played his first four NBA seasons with the Spurs before winning a championship with the Milwaukee Bucks in 2020-2021. He signed with Spurs in free agency in August.
