[VIDEO] How I Met Your Father: Hilary Duff Interview – Who is the father?

There are no errors How I met your father's Sophie for Ted Mosby, but their hearts are certainly in the same place when we first meet them. Like How I met your motherHilary Duff's character has convinced herself that she's ready to settle down and find "the one", whether or not she's actually ready for that level of commitment.

"She has not made herself whole," Duff tells TVLine when asked about her first reading on Sophie. "She always finds the positive, which is an extremely endearing and amazing trait ... and a hopeless belief that she will find true love.

"I think it's really fun to see her try to get both her feet on the ground at 30," Duff says. "She does not crush life in any way, but on this one night the lightning strikes and she meets all these people who will help her become whole and it will give her hope on her journey."

Below is Younger the vet weights the premiere's two major revelations, and whether the sequel's central mystery has made her look at certain scenes in a different light.

How I Met Your Father - Sophie and CharlieTVLINE | Which surprised you more: Was it the revelation that all these men could potentially be the danger? Or was it stepping into the old apartment for the first time?
It was the journey that all these people could be the father of. All the guys are so lovable, and so cute and so quirky in their own way and in their own way. You say, "Oh! Ohh! Ohh!" There is opportunity everywhere for Sophie and she can not see it at all. You know there's an adventure in store for her, but she's a little in this room where she feels ... not trapped, but she's not making much progress in her life yet. And as a viewer, you think, "Oh, you have some fun waiting for you."

TVLINE | Was the new setting - that Sophie has already met her father - part of what appealed to you about doing this show? That it would not just be a resumption of HIMYM, and it would tell this love story in its own unique way?
I think if we tried to copy the original show, there's just no way to live up to it. They were so buttoned up as a cast, and so funny, and we are so lucky to have [original series creators] Carter [Bays] and Craig [Thomas] on board supporting this show told from a female perspective. Half of our crew was on How I met your mother, so we have [group] of people who can guide us, but it really is not the same show in any way. Sophie is not Ted and there is no one trying to be Barney. I love that the writers used the very first episode as an opportunity to show the occupants of this apartment where everyone fell in love with the original cast, but you know we're all on a completely different path.

How I Met Your Dad 1x01TVLINE | Does the knowledge that one of these men is most likely the father ever influence how you interpret (or approach) your scenes with them?
Sometimes it does ... I have a very meaningful moment [coming up] with Suraj playing Sid, and in the back of my mind I think, "How am I going to play this? Is there anything here yet? Is there a little part of Sophie looking at him differently because of this one moment? ” So I never try to close the door [on any one possibility]. There are many different opportunities here for the guys to get involved with Sophie in some way. [As Sophie], I think that if I just open my heart, there is always the possibility that it can swing both ways.

Who do you think will turn out to be Sophie's baby father? Log your early predictions in the comments.
