Ohio State slides into top 25 after loss to Michigan

The selection committee's latest College Football Playoff rankings are here with six teams still in the mix for four spots heading into the conference championship weekend. Clemson's rivalry loss to South Carolina along with LSU's stunning setback at Texas A&M nukes both of those teams' shot at playing their way into the playoff, while Ohio State's setback against Michigan took the Buckeyes out of the final four this week.

Three undefeated teams — Georgia, Michigan and TCU — are virtual locks to appear in a semifinal setting unless the Horned Frogs fail to show in Saturday's Big 12 title game against Kansas State. Two-loss Alabama and the Buckeyes are hoping for chaos this weekend as both will need help to preserve their chances in the form of a loss from USC.

The selection committee's rankings also determine how the New Year's Six matchups are doled out and which elite teams who fail to reach the playoff will appear in top-tier bowl games.

And for the final time before the real thing on Sunday, the selection committee's penultimate rankings are here.
